Day Two - Sunday 30th September
Mt Carbine to Lakeland - 114km
Breakfast - from 5.30 am
Cereals, bread / toast spreads juice, fruit, yoghurt, tea and coffee.
Bacon and eggs roll also provided by the Mt Carbine Rodeo Association for a small cost
Ride Start
Staggered starts from 7.00am with the slower packs leading out first.
This will have been explained at the briefing at dinner. If you don’t attend the briefing make sure you find out the instructions… before we are due to start!!
Desailly Range
We will again be limiting those riding up the Desailey Range for safety reasons - it goes up at 10% (that’s steep!) for 3.7 kms!! Bus and bike co-ordination will be at the first rest stop of the day prior to the climb
Range riders will gather at the base and will be set-off by the Army personnel at regular intervals.
A safe re-grouping area is a little further on over the top. There will be signs indicating distance.
Support vehicles dropping their rider and bike are to again follow the "stop and drop" principle and go onto the Palmer River Roadhouse for lunch. Otherwise all Support Vehicles are to leave before the riders or after the riders have cleared the Range.
This will be managed by the Police and SES
.
Lunch - Palmer River Roadhouse
Self-serve roll/sandwich/wrap building courtesy of Cornetts’ and Piconnes’ Supa IGA and our Catering Volunteers. The Roadhouse also has tea and coffee, cold drinks and ice-creams etc. for purchase.
It’s a short ride after lunch but with the bonus of a downhill of 8% descending the Byerstown Range. There is a speed limit on the range - do not exceed this and we don’t want any accidents! The wind can cut across some of the downhill sections and catch you unaware so be careful.
All packs will re-group at an assigned area at the base so we don’t leave anyone behind.
Ride end
Lakeland School - camping
Camping, toilets and showers – in the school grounds (Extra Porta-loos and showers on site)
Dinner from 6.30pm.
This will be provided by the Lakeland School P & C. and is their major fundraiser for the year!
There will also be a bar run by the P & C.
There will be a briefing and important announcements at dinner so please ensure you are there to hear these.
NRL Grand Final Night
