Get healthy and get a lifestyle

Join the Northern Beaches Bike Bus to start your training regime for the 2010 Cardiac Challenge.

A bike bus is a group of people who cycle to work in a group. It’s called a “bus” because there is a set route and timetable so it can pick up more “passengers” along the way. Cycling is a quick, fun way to get to work while keeping fit and healthy. A bike bus adds sociability and comfort. And it’s zero emission commuting, so you save 1.3 tonnes of greenhouse emissions per annum, for a 10km commute.”

A bike bus is also a safer way to commute as the riders ride in single file and are clearly visible along the highway. Queensland Transport are supporting the bike bus by providing funding for Hi Visibility Reflector strips for the cyclists to wear and flags for both the front and rear cyclists.

The Northern Beaches bike bus leaves the southern side of the Trinity Beach roundabout promptly at 7.00am every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning with the following timetable:

7.00am Trinity Beach roundabout (southern side)

7.15am Smithfield/Caravonica Roundabout (near fruit van)

7.24am Holloways Beach turnoff

7.26am Machan’s Beach turnoff

7.32am General Aviation lights

7.36am Airport turnoff

7.45am Seabreeze Café Cairns Base Hospital.

Riding is in single file along the Captain Cook Highway cycle lane.

We would like to encourage other cyclists to join us anywhere along the route for the ride into the City.
