Food - what's there to eat?

We provide three cycling sized meals a day (except for breakfast day one).

Breakfast

  • typically a choice of cereals, bread / toast and spreads, yoghurt, fruit and a hot item (e.g., baked beans, spaghetti). Milk, juice, tea and coffee are also available.

Lunch

  • typically a roll / sandwich or wrap with various different meats, salads & dressings/condiments as well as fruit, muffin / cake, a sweet and a drink. Lunch is served on the bike route about three-quarters of the way along.

Pre-dinner Nibbles and Drinks

  • cheese and biscuits etc for those who need a top-up before dinner
  • or you may wish to have a drink or two at the Lakeland Hotel

Dinner

  • this is where we give back to local business and community being Camp Paterson and the Mt Carbine Hotel at Mt Carbine & the Lakeland P&C at Lakeland.  There will soup, a main and dessert with bread and fruit available also.
  • a bar will be run by the Mt Carbine Hotel and the Lakeland P&C
  • tea and coffee are also available.

Ride finish lunch on the waterfront at Cooktown

  • This year we will not be stopping for lunch on the ride but going through to Cooktown where we will celebrate with a lunch on the waterfront of the Endeavour River

Gala Dinner Cooktown

This year we are hoping to have a spit roast on site at are camping venue (the Cooktown School).  Drinks will be BYO but we are still negotiating this

Two standard meal types are offered: Meat and Vegetarian. Meat may include beef, lamb, or chicken. Vegetarian meals do not contain meat but may/will contain other animal products.

There is also a special diet option available and participants must complete the Special Diet form (hyperlink to be constructed) and have it accepted with their entry. Special diets that can be catered without difficulty are vegan, gluten free, lactose intolerant and nut allergy. Other special diet catering is at the discretion of The Ride Management.

Community groups will be supporting us along the way such as Kuranda Rotary at Speewah, Mareeba Rotary in Mareeba Day 1 morning tea, Mt Molloy CWA & P&C lunch on Day 1, Palmer River Roadhouse, lunch Day 2.
