Welcome to the Cardiac Challenge 2011

Welcome to Cardiac Challenge 2012

This fundraising is essential to the growth of the Cardiology Department at Cairns Base Hospital that continues to expand every year. The number of patients treated for a heart attack at Cairns Base Hospital increased from 64 in 2001 to 294 in 2010 which is a growth of 360% in one decade.

As part of this expansion, a dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab was opened in July 2010 to coincide with the commencement of angioplasty procedures at Cairns Base Hospital. The addition of this vital service has meant that local patients no longer have to travel to Townsville for this procedure. Already over 100 people in our community have benefited from an angioplasty at Cairns Base Hospital.
